Bariatric Centers' physicians are the only ones in the Pittsburgh area that subscribe to and abide by the standards of practice of the American Society of Bariatric Physicians.
The American Society of Bariatric Physicians (ASBP) is the nation's largest professional society of physicians specializing in the treatment of obesity and its associated conditions.
The ASBP, formed in 1950, is the driving force for superior patient care standards and protection. Through its excellence in post-graduate medical education and research, the ASBP provides its members with guidelines and procedures to follow in the practice of "quality care" bariatric medicine.
The Society issues guidelines of practice, such as laboratory studies, physical examination, regular follow-up physician visits, medications and treatment modalities, maintenance programs, and many others.
